Mōtēneitūrangamahi | About the role The Electoral Commission is seeking a detail-focused and reliable Enrolment Processing Officer to support the integrity and accuracy of the electoral roll through the data processing of enrolment applications. You will be part of a supportive and dedicated team delivering interesting and varied work. You will be contributing to the smooth operation of enrolment services by processing enrolment applications, maintaining high-quality data, and supporting administrative functions. While some tasks may be repetitive, they will require your investigative and analytical skills. You'll be comfortable following processes and playing an important part in ensuring electoral information is accurate, secure, and managed in line with legislation and Commission standards. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working with data, values accuracy, and is committed to delivering trusted public services. The role is a fixed‑term role from 28 September to 20 November 2026 and pays $62,460 per annum. You must be available Monday to Friday during this period and should be available to travel daily to Sydenham, Christchurch. What you’ll be doing. Process online and paper-based enrolment transactions, manage enrolment mail, and support administrative functions to ensure smooth operations. Validate and cleanse electoral roll data, carry out quality assurance checks, and ensure compliance with legal and policy requirements. Maintain strict confidentiality and manage elector information in line with the Privacy Act and Commission policies. Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and service delivery while supporting a collaborative and positive team environment. What you’ll need to succeed Experience in data processing or administrative roles. Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with large volumes of information. Good planning, organisation, and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines. Sound problem-solving skills and judgement, with the ability to balance detail and the bigger picture. Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a team. Confidence using computer systems and applications beyond standard office tools.E.g. land records or similar. A proactive approach, with the ability to work independently and show initiative. A commitment to integrity, confidentiality, and public service.
