Key facts Location: Tauranga, Bay of Plenty Engagement: Full-time What you'll do Oversee the daily operations of Otumoetai Pool, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations and industry standards. Lead and manage a team of lifeguards and support staff, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations to maintain high service standards. Develop and implement aquatic programs and activities that cater to various age groups and skill levels, enhancing community engagement and participation. Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the pool and surrounding areas, coordinating maintenance and repair activities as necessary. Conduct regular safety drills and training sessions to ensure all staff are prepared for emergency situations and can respond effectively. Manage scheduling for staff and pool activities, ensuring adequate coverage during peak hours and special events. Engage with the community through outreach programs, promoting the benefits of swimming and water safety education. Handle customer inquiries and feedback, addressing concerns promptly to ensure a positive experience for all visitors. Maintain accurate records related to pool usage, staff performance, and incident reports, providing regular updates to management. Collaborate with local schools and organizations to promote swimming lessons and aquatic events, fostering partnerships that benefit the community. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in aquatic management, implementing new ideas to enhance facility operations. Participate in budget planning and resource allocation to ensure the efficient operation of the facility. Requirements A minimum of 3 years of experience in aquatic facility management or a related field, with a proven track record of leadership. Current lifeguard certification and first aid/CPR certification, with the ability to maintain these qualifications. Strong understanding of health and safety regulations pertaining to aquatic environments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse groups. Proven ability to manage a team, fostering a positive and productive work environment. Strong organizational skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment. Nice to have Experience in program development and community outreach within an aquatic setting. Familiarity with aquatic facility maintenance and operations, including water quality management. Previous experience in budget management and financial oversight. Knowledge of swim instruction techniques and water safety education. Skills & tools Proficient in using facility management software and tools for scheduling and reporting. Strong analytical skills for assessing facility performance and identifying areas for improvement. Ability to create engaging promotional materials for community programs and events. Competence in using social media and digital platforms to enhance community engagement and outreach efforts. Practical notes This position is based in Tauranga, Bay of Plenty, and requires flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
