\n We are now seeking a detail-oriented and commercially minded Retail Buyer & Merchandise Planner to lead our procurement and merchandise strategy across both fresh produce and imported food lines.
About the Role
\n This is a full-time, permanent position for a professional buyer with experience in managing seasonal and fast-moving consumer goods. You'll take full ownership of sourcing and purchasing decisions, balancing demand forecasting, pricing, supplier negotiations, and inventory control across a diverse product range - including fresh fruit, vegetables, snacks, condiments, dairy alternatives, and health-focused imports.
\n Key Responsibilities

- Source and purchase fresh produce from local growers, wholesalers, and markets \n
- Procure international food products and brands aligned with customer demand and company standards \n
- Negotiate supplier terms, contracts, and pricing with local suppliers \n
- Track sales, stock levels, and seasonal trends to make smart ordering decisions \n
- Plan and manage inventory to reduce wastage and ensure freshness \n
- Coordinate seasonal and promotional buying campaigns across product categories \n
- Research and introduce new products based on customer trends, demand, and margin potential \n
- Ensure all purchased goods meet food safety, import, and compliance standards \n
- Prepare monthly reports on sales, forecasting, and vendor performance \n
- Collaborate with retail staff to ensure optimal presentation, merchandising, and
\n availability \n

Previous experience in retail buying, merchandise planning, procurement, fresh produce, food retail, or a related industry would be preferred but is not essential.

Experience working with fresh produce, imported food products, or supplier management would be desirable.

Good understanding of retail operations, inventory management, purchasing processes, and commercial decision-making.
\n - \n
Ability to develop and maintain supplier relationships and support purchasing negotiations.

Knowledge of inventory planning, stock control, and sales forecasting would be advantageous.

Strong communication, organisational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or inventory/merchandise management systems would be preferred.

A relevant qualification or training in retail, business, procurement, supply chain, or a related field would be desirable but is not a mandatory requirement.
