Key facts Location: Auckland Engagement: Full-time Salary: Competitive salary commensurate with experience Visa: Sponsorship available for the right candidate What you'll do Lead and manage the flight operations team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and regulatory compliance. Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and safety in flight operations. Collaborate with the maintenance and engineering teams to ensure aircraft readiness and compliance with safety standards. Monitor and analyze operational performance metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions. Liaise with regulatory authorities and industry stakeholders to ensure compliance with aviation regulations and standards. Oversee flight scheduling and resource allocation to optimize operational efficiency and minimize delays. Conduct regular training and development sessions for flight operations staff to ensure they are equipped with the latest industry knowledge and skills. Manage budgets and financial performance related to flight operations, ensuring cost-effective practices in place. Foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement within the flight operations team. Prepare and present reports on operational performance to senior management and stakeholders. Engage in strategic planning to align flight operations with the company's long-term goals and objectives. Act as a key point of contact for any operational issues, providing timely solutions and support. Requirements A minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation operations, with at least 5 years in a leadership role. In-depth knowledge of aviation regulations, safety standards, and best practices in flight operations. Proven track record in managing flight operations within a commercial aviation environment. Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions. Excellent leadership and team management abilities, with a focus on fostering a positive work environment. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders. Experience in budget management and financial oversight related to flight operations. Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment. A valid pilot's license or relevant aviation qualifications would be advantageous. Nice to have Experience with flight operations in a regional airline or charter service environment. Familiarity with aviation safety management systems (SMS) and quality assurance processes. Previous experience in implementing operational improvements and efficiency initiatives. Knowledge of flight planning software and operational management tools. A strong network within the aviation industry, including relationships with regulatory bodies and other stakeholders. Skills & tools Proficient in aviation management software and tools for flight operations. Strong understanding of safety management systems and compliance frameworks. Competence in data analysis and performance metrics tracking. Excellent project management skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams. Familiarity with budgeting and financial analysis tools relevant to aviation operations. Practical notes This position is based in Auckland, New Zealand, and may require occasional travel for operational oversight and industry engagement. The successful candidate will be expected to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed to support flight operations.
