Avionics Intern - Neutron Avionics Hardware at Rocket Lab Corporation About the role Rocket Lab is developing the Neutron, a medium-lift, reusable launch vehicle. The Avionics team plays a crucial role in the design and testing of avionics systems, including hardware and software components essential for the vehicle's operation. As an intern, you will assist in creating electronic assemblies, ground support equipment, and automation tools while gaining hands-on experience in avionics design and testing. Key facts Location: Auckland, NZ Engagement: Internship Team: Neutron Avionics Hardware What you'll do Contribute to the creation and management of design libraries using Altium Designer. Engage in circuit design, verification, and characterization tasks. Aid in the production release of electrical bills of materials (BOMs) and designs. Participate in the development of prototype designs for research and development purposes. Assist in creating tools and processes for automated testing and reporting of avionics components. Support test campaigns for both in-house and commercial avionics components. Help with the build and commissioning of automated test equipment. Collaborate with engineers across various departments and contribute ideas during team meetings. Requirements Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or a related field. Up to 1 year of experience in electronics design. Up to 1 year of experience in testing and troubleshooting electronic systems. Experience in designing and implementing PCBs for analog, digital, or mixed-signal circuits from concept to production. Understanding of electronic principles, including power electronics and communication systems (e.g., RS-422, SPI, Ethernet, CAN bus), as well as signal integrity and grounding concepts. Nice to have Familiarity with automated testing equipment and processes. Experience with Altium Designer or similar design software. Skills & tools Proficient in Altium Designer for PCB design and management. Knowledge of electrical testing methodologies and tools. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills in electronics.
