Senior IoT Sales Engineer Location: Christchurch, New Zealand (remote-based with regular client travel) Salary: NZD 120,000–150,000 Work Rights: Applicants must have unrestricted working rights in New Zealand or Australia. About the Opportunity An established technology company specializing in IoT and digital solutions for the utilities and critical infrastructure sectors is seeking a Senior IoT Sales Engineer to join its growing New Zealand team. This is a customer-facing role that combines consultative sales, technical solution design, stakeholder engagement, and account management. Working closely with customers, channel partners, product teams, and delivery specialists, you will help organisations adopt innovative technology solutions that improve operational performance and asset visibility. Key Responsibilities Identify, develop, and close new business opportunities across the utilities and critical infrastructure sectors, particularly within water and energy. Build long-term relationships with customers while identifying opportunities for account growth. Engage with senior stakeholders to understand operational challenges and develop practical, value-driven technology solutions. Lead proposals, tenders, and commercial negotiations with support from technical and delivery teams. Support customers throughout solution design, implementation, and ongoing adoption to ensure successful outcomes. Collaborate with product and engineering teams to communicate customer requirements and influence future product development. Work closely with channel partners to develop and progress sales opportunities. Coordinate with internal teams to ensure high-quality project delivery and customer satisfaction. About You You are a commercially minded technology professional with experience selling complex solutions into enterprise or infrastructure-focused organisations. You are comfortable engaging both technical and executive stakeholders and enjoy helping customers solve operational challenges through innovative technology. Essential Skills & Experience Proven success selling technology or digital solutions into utilities, government, energy, water, enterprise, or critical infrastructure organisations. Strong understanding of IT infrastructure, networking principles, and operational technology environments. Experience in business development, consultative sales, and strategic account management. Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills. Demonstrated ability to identify customer needs and translate them into commercially viable solutions. Experience coordinating cross-functional teams and supporting complex solution delivery. Strong commercial acumen with a track record of achieving sales and growth targets. Desirable Experience Experience with IoT, industrial automation, digital platforms, or related technologies. Exposure to operational technology (OT), cyber security, or critical infrastructure environments. Familiarity with strategic sales methodologies such as Target Account Selling (TAS) or similar frameworks. Project management or business analysis certifications (e.g. PMP, PRINCE2, CBAP) would be advantageous. Knowledge of emerging technologies such as IoT, AI, Digital Twins, or industrial analytics. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Information Technology, Commerce, or a related discipline.
