Key facts Location: Palmerston North, Manawatu Engagement: Full-time Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience Visa: Sponsorship available for the right candidate What you'll do Design, develop, and implement software applications that align with business objectives and user needs. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product management and UX/UI designers, to define software requirements and specifications. Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to best practices and coding standards. Conduct thorough testing and debugging of applications to ensure optimal performance and reliability. Participate in code reviews to provide constructive feedback and share knowledge with team members. Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously improve software development processes. Troubleshoot and resolve software defects and issues reported by users or identified during testing. Contribute to the development of technical documentation, including system architecture, user manuals, and API documentation. Assist in the deployment of applications and monitor their performance in production environments. Collaborate with DevOps teams to streamline the software delivery pipeline and enhance deployment efficiency. Mentor junior developers and provide guidance on best practices in software engineering. Engage in agile methodologies, participating in sprint planning, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure effective project management. Requirements Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. A minimum of 3 years of professional experience in software development. Proficiency in programming languages such as Java, C#, or Python. Experience with web development frameworks and technologies, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Familiarity with database management systems, such as MySQL or PostgreSQL. Strong understanding of software development methodologies, particularly Agile and Scrum. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively collaborate with team members and stakeholders. A passion for technology and a desire to stay current with emerging trends and tools in software development. Nice to have Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker and orchestration tools like Kubernetes. Knowledge of CI/CD practices and tools for automated testing and deployment. Previous experience in a customer-facing role or working directly with end-users. Contributions to open-source projects or a strong portfolio showcasing personal projects.
