This role plays a critical part in delivering timely, consistent and responsible credit decisions while ensuring an exceptional experience for our mortgage adviser partners and customers. As an Underwriter, you will assess residential lending applications, apply sound credit judgement, and work closely with mortgage advisers and internal stakeholders to facilitate strong customer outcomes. You'll thrive in a fast-paced environment where attention to detail, risk awareness and customer service are equally important. What Your Day Might Look Like Assessing residential loan applications and making lending decisions in line with credit policies, procedures and delegated authority levels. Reviewing customer information, supporting documentation and risk factors to ensure quality credit outcomes. Building strong relationships with mortgage advisers and business partners by providing clear communication and exceptional service. Managing a pipeline of applications while meeting service standards and turnaround time expectations. Identifying and escalating applications that fall outside policy or require further review. Ensuring loan files are accurate, complete and compliant prior to settlement. Working collaboratively with colleagues across Credit, Operations and Sales to deliver positive customer outcomes. Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives and supporting a strong compliance and risk culture. About you Previous experience in mortgage lending, credit assessment, underwriting or financial services. Strong understanding of residential lending principles and credit risk assessment. Excellent analytical skills with the ability to make balanced and informed decisions. Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to maintaining high-quality work. Strong organisational skills and the ability to effectively manage competing priorities. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the confidence to engage with mortgage advisers and stakeholders. A customer-focused mindset and a passion for delivering outstanding service. The ability to work collaboratively within a team while taking ownership of individual performance. A proactive approach to learning, problem-solving and continuous improvement.
