Key facts Location: Mount Maunganui Engagement: Full-time What you'll do Develop and implement community sports programs that cater to various age groups and skill levels, ensuring inclusivity and accessibility for all participants. Collaborate with local schools and educational institutions to promote sports initiatives and encourage student participation in extracurricular activities. Organise and facilitate community events, such as sports tournaments, workshops, and fitness classes, aimed at increasing community involvement in physical activities. Build and maintain strong relationships with local sports clubs, organizations, and community leaders to enhance program visibility and participation. Conduct needs assessments and surveys to identify community interests and preferences regarding sports and recreational activities. Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of programs and events, providing feedback and recommendations for continuous improvement. Manage budgets for community programs and events, ensuring efficient allocation of resources and adherence to financial guidelines. Promote programs through various channels, including social media, newsletters, and community boards, to maximise outreach and engagement. Provide training and support for volunteers and staff involved in community sports initiatives, fostering a collaborative and motivated team environment. Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and innovations in community sports programming to enhance offerings and improve participant experiences. Facilitate partnerships with health organizations and local businesses to promote wellness initiatives and support community health goals. Represent Bayvenues at community meetings and events, advocating for the importance of sports and physical activity in enhancing community quality of life. Requirements A degree in Sports Management, Community Development, or a related field, or equivalent experience in community engagement or sports coordination. At least 2 years of experience in a similar role, demonstrating a strong understanding of community sports programming and event management. Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups, including community members, local organizations, and government agencies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire individuals from various backgrounds. Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Proficiency in using digital tools and platforms for program promotion, data collection, and community engagement. Nice to have Experience in grant writing or fundraising for community programmes, with a track record of securing funding for initiatives. Familiarity with health and wellness trends, particularly in relation to community sports and physical activity. Knowledge of local sports organizations and community resources in the Mount Maunganui area. Certification in First Aid and CPR, ensuring safety during community events and activities. Skills & tools Strong project management skills, with the ability to plan, execute, and evaluate community programmes effectively. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and social media platforms for marketing and communication purposes. Familiarity with data analysis tools to assess programme impact and participant feedback. Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and respond to community needs in a dynamic environment.
