Supply Chain Category Manager

New Zealand Panels Group is a leading manufacturer and distributor of decorative interior panel products used by the joinery industry. We also supply high pressure laminates, porcelain and engineered stone benchtop materials along with a range of substrates and stainless-steel products. Specified by New Zealand's top architects and designers, our products can be found in projects built by the country's leading residential and commercial builders. About the role: We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Supply Chain Category Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for leading procurement and supply chain management activities while ensuring supply continuity, effective inventory management, and strong supplier partnerships that support business objectives. The successful candidate will combine strategic thinking with operational execution, working closely with internal stakeholders and suppliers to optimise cost, quality, service, and supply chain performance. Key tasks: Procurement & Supply Planning: Manage plans to respond to changing demand, production schedules, and shipping requirements while ensuring continuity of supply. Demand Forecasting & Production Capacity Planning : Align with business needs and operational priorities. Inventory Management & Purchasing: Oversee inventory and purchasing decisions to optimise stock levels, minimise freight costs, and support cashflow performance. Supplier Relationship Management: Build and manage strong supplier relationships. Category Management: Analyse customer, and supplier data to identify opportunities for cost savings, quality improvements, and operational efficiencies. About You To be successful in this role, you will bring: Proven experience in supply chain, procurement, category management, or sourcing roles. Strong analytical and commercial acumen with the ability to interpret data and market trends. Experience in managing supplier relationships and negotiations. Excellent planning, forecasting, and inventory management capabilities. Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and changing environment. Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. Experience with ERP systems and supply chain planning tools would be advantageous.
