Position Summary \n

Pam's Home and Renovations Ltd is an Auckland-based renovation company specialising in residential and commercial renovation projects. Due to continued business growth, we are looking for a motivated, reliable, and hardworking Trade Assistant to join our team on a full-time permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities \n

As a Trade Assistant, you will work under the direction of qualified tradespeople and assist with a wide variety of renovation and construction tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Assisting with carpentry, tiling, painting, plastering, flooring, roofing, fencing, decking, pergolas, and general renovation work.
  • \n
  • Assisting with kitchen, bathroom, laundry, and full residential renovation projects.
  • \n
  • Preparing work sites by setting up tools, equipment, safety barriers, protective coverings, and construction materials.
  • \n
  • Measuring, marking, cutting, carrying, and preparing building materials under supervision.
  • \n
  • Assisting with waterproofing, surface preparation, GIB fixing, stopping, sanding, painting, tile laying, grouting, silicone application, and finishing work.
  • \n
  • Assisting with the installation of doors, windows, cabinetry, wardrobes, shelving, skirting boards, trims, fixtures, fittings, and other building components.
  • \n
  • Assisting with flooring installation, repairs, underlay preparation, and finishing work.
  • \n
  • Carrying out demolition, strip-outs, and the safe removal of walls, ceilings, flooring, cabinetry, tiles, fixtures, and fittings.
  • \n
  • Removing demolition waste and rubbish from work sites and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • \n
  • Loading, unloading, lifting, carrying, transporting, stacking, and organising construction materials, machinery, and equipment.
  • \n
  • Delivering and collecting materials, equipment, and supplies from merchants and suppliers.
  • \n
  • Mixing and preparing adhesives, grout, mortar, plaster, concrete, paint, sealants, and other construction materials.
  • \n
  • Operating hand tools, power tools, and basic construction equipment safely and in accordance with company procedures.
  • \n
  • Assisting with scaffolding assembly, ladders, and temporary work platforms where trained and authorised.
  • \n
  • Installing protective coverings to safeguard clients' property during renovation work.
  • \n
  • Performing minor repairs, maintenance work, and touch-up tasks under supervision.
  • \n
  • Assisting with site measurements, material quantities, and stock control.
  • \n
  • Cleaning, maintaining, storing, and securing all tools, equipment, machinery, company vehicles, trailers, storage areas, and workshops.
  • \n
  • Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised work environment at all times.
  • \n
  • Reporting damaged equipment, material shortages, hazards, accidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions immediately.
  • \n
  • Complying with all Company policies, Health and Safety procedures, and New Zealand workplace legislation.
  • \n
  • Wearing and maintaining appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • \n
  • Working safely in occupied homes while protecting clients' property and maintaining a professional appearance and attitude.
  • \n
  • Travelling to various work sites throughout Auckland and surrounding areas , and where required, outside Auckland.
  • \n
  • Must be willing and ready to work on weekends when required.
  • \n
  • Assisting qualified tradespeople with any other reasonable construction, renovation, labouring, cleaning, driving, or material-handling duties required to support the successful completion of projects.
  • \n
Skills and Experience \n

The successful applicant will:

    \n
  • Have a minimum of 2 years’ experience in construction, renovation, or general labouring work.
  • \n
  • Be physically fit and capable of performing manual labour and heavy lifting.
  • \n
  • Have a strong work ethic with a willingness to learn and develop new trade skills.
  • \n
  • Be reliable, punctual, honest, and able to work well within a team.
  • \n
  • Be able to follow instructions and work safely at all times.
  • \n
  • Have good communication and time management skills.
  • \n
  • Experience using hand and power tools will be an advantage.
  • \n
  • A Full New Zealand Driver Licence is preferred.
  • \n
Employment Details \n
    \n
  • Permanent full-time position.
  • \n
  • Minimum guaranteed 30 hours per week , with the opportunity to work up to 40 hours per week depending on operational requirements.

Pre-employment Requirements \n

The successful applicant will be required to:

  • Pass a pre-employment drug and alcohol test .
  • \n
  • Consent to and successfully complete a New Zealand Police Vetting/Police Check .
  • \n
  • Be legally entitled to work in New Zealand.
  • \n
  • Be willing to undergo random drug and alcohol testing during employment in accordance with the Company's Drug and Alcohol Policy.
