Key facts Location: Masterton, Wairarapa Engagement: Full-time Salary: Competitive, commensurate with experience Visa: Sponsorship may be available for the right candidate What you'll do Lead and manage the engineering team responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of harvesting equipment and systems. Develop and execute strategic plans to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of harvesting operations. Collaborate with the operations team to identify areas for improvement in harvesting processes and implement engineering solutions. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, conducting regular audits and risk assessments to maintain a safe working environment. Oversee the maintenance schedules for all harvesting machinery, ensuring minimal downtime and optimal performance. Analyze data related to harvesting operations to identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for innovation. Coordinate with suppliers and vendors to procure necessary equipment and materials for harvesting operations. Provide technical support and training to staff on the use and maintenance of harvesting equipment. Foster a culture of continuous improvement within the engineering team, encouraging innovative thinking and problem-solving. Prepare and manage budgets related to engineering projects and harvesting operations. Liaise with external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies and industry partners, to ensure compliance and promote best practices. Report on engineering performance metrics and project outcomes to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for future initiatives. Requirements A degree in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Agricultural, or a related field. At least 5 years of experience in an engineering role, with a focus on agricultural or harvesting operations. Proven leadership experience, with the ability to manage and motivate a diverse team. Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations related to agricultural operations. Excellent problem-solving skills, with a track record of implementing effective engineering solutions. Proficiency in project management principles, with experience in budgeting and resource allocation. Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret data and make informed decisions. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to convey complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Familiarity with modern harvesting technologies and machinery is highly desirable. Nice to have Experience in a similar role within the agricultural sector. Knowledge of sustainable farming practices and environmental regulations. Familiarity with CAD software and other engineering design tools. Previous experience in project management or leading engineering projects. A passion for innovation and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
