Our client is a well‑established New Zealand manufacturing and construction‑related business with a strong national presence and reputation for quality. Operating across manufacturing, distribution and project‑based environments, the organisation supplies products and solutions used in a wide range of residential and commercial developments throughout New Zealand. This role sits in a sweet spot that is increasingly hard to find. It offers the substance of a true Finance Manager position within a well‑established New Zealand business, while also providing exposure to strategic projects, systems transformation, and leadership responsibility whilst also offering plenty for someone who enjoys getting into the detail! The Role Based in Lower Hutt, this is a rare opportunity for an experienced Senior Accountant or Finance Manager to take ownership of an end‑to‑end finance function while acting as a trusted adviser to senior leadership. Responsibilities This is a highly visible role that balances strategic insight with hands‑on delivery. You'll be responsible for financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management, compliance, commercial analysis and operational finance activities. You'll also play a key role in helping shape the future direction of the finance function, including involvement in a significant ERP system transformation. Key responsibilities include: Monthly financial and management reporting Budgeting, forecasting and financial modelling Commercial analysis and business performance insights Inventory and stock valuation reporting Construction and project costing analysis Cashflow, treasury and working capital management GST, FBT and taxation compliance Financial controls, reconciliations and month‑end processes Oversight of payment runs, claims and royalty administration Leadership of two remote finance team members Supporting continuous improvement and future systems implementation initiatives This role offers genuine breadth and the opportunity to influence both operational and strategic outcomes. Role Requirements To be successful, you'll bring a strong blend of technical accounting capability, commercial acumen and leadership potential. You'll ideally have: CA qualification or equivalent experience Strong financial and management accounting expertise Proven experience leading month‑end reporting processes Budgeting and forecasting experience The ability to operate effectively at both strategic and operational levels Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills A naturally curious and commercially minded approach Previous leadership experience, or the capability to step into a leadership role Confidence presenting financial information to senior stakeholders The Following Would Be Advantageous But Are Not Essential Manufacturing, inventory or stock accounting experience Construction, project or job costing exposure Commercial finance or business partnering experience Experience with ERP or finance systems implementations Benefits Include Competitive salary package with KiwiSaver on top Discounted health insurance Product and retail discounts Opportunity to lead a future ERP transformation project Genuine influence over business strategy and performance A supportive, trusted and outcomes‑focused culture Please note: This is a 5 days in office role.
