We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Health & Safety – Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) to lead the governance, health and safety framework, and continuous improvement of all EOTC programmes across the Junior School, Senior School and our Kahunui Campus. About the Role Working alongside academic leaders responsible for planning and delivering EOTC activities, and in partnership with the College’s Health & Safety Lead, you will provide strategic leadership and governance of the College’s Education Outside the Classroom (EOTC) framework. You will develop the systems, processes, and guidance that support safe and effective EOTC delivery, while leading and building capability across staff who manage and deliver these programmes. You will develop and maintain a sector-leading EOTC Safety Management System that supports all curriculum and co-curricular activities, camps, international travel, incursions, student events and Kahunui programmes. Providing expert advice to the Senior Leadership Team and Board, you will ensure all EOTC programmes are safe, educationally meaningful, effectively governed, fully compliant with legislative requirements, College policies and recognised best practice, and driven by a culture of continuous improvement . Key Responsibilities You will: Lead the College's EOTC health and safety strategy, governance and compliance. Oversee risk management, approvals, emergency planning and incident review for all EOTC activities. Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, Ministry of Education guidelines and industry best practice. Partner with Kahunui leadership to strengthen health, safety and wellbeing systems. Oversee international travel, high-risk activities, external providers and volunteers. Build staff capability through training, competency management and support. Monitor programme quality through audits, reporting, system management and continuous improvement. About You Are you a strategic and collaborative health and safety professional who is passionate about creating safe, engaging learning experiences? We're looking for someone with strong leadership, governance and risk management expertise who can influence stakeholders, build capability, and develop practical systems that support exceptional Education Outside the Classroom programmes. Ideally, you will have: Experience leading health and safety within education, outdoor education or a comparable environment. Strong knowledge of New Zealand health and safety legislation and EOTC best practice. Experience developing safety management systems, policies and governance frameworks. Excellent communication, relationship management and organisational skills. A collaborative approach and a commitment to educational excellence. Why Join Us?
