Project Manager - Estates Management Massey University - Palmerston North Fixed Term position 12 months 1 FTE (37.50hrs p/w) Make an impact on the future of our campuses and help shape world-class environments for learning, research, and innovation. Massey University is seeking an experienced Project Manager to join our Estates Management team based in Palmerston North. In this role, you'll lead the delivery of capital works and building-related projects across our Palmerston North campus-ensuring our facilities continue to support outstanding student and staff experiences. As part of a collaborative and values-driven team, you'll manage projects through the full lifecycle: from planning and design to construction, handover, and operational integration. You'll act as a trusted client representative, providing leadership, technical expertise, and strong stakeholder engagement. About the role You will be responsible for: Managing capital projects end-to-end, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to quality standards Overseeing contractors, consultants, and suppliers, including contract administration Ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory, and university requirements Leading project planning, risk assessment, reporting, and quality assurance Supporting decanting, commissioning, and handover activities Contributing to sustainability objectives, including 5-Star GBCNZ building standards Building strong relationships with internal teams and external partners This role reports to the Manager Project Management and sits within a highly skilled, supportive Estates Management team that plays a crucial role in ensuring our campuses operate effectively and safely. About you You will bring: Qualifications in Project Management, Construction Management, Architecture, Building Services, or equivalent experience is preferred Extensive experience in construction, building services, or capital project delivery Knowledge of NZ Building Act, Health & Safety legislation, and contract management (NZS3910 desirable) Experience acting as a client representative or Engineer to Contract Familiarity with AutoCAD, and MS Project (or similar) Strong communication, leadership, and stakeholder-relationship skills A commitment to Te Tiriti o Waitangi and to engaging respectfully with diverse communities Why Massey University? - Staff Benefits At Massey, we're committed to being a Te Tiriti-led university and a great place to work.
