Paid Research Internship – Materials Chemistry | Auckland, New Zealand Help create the next generation of sustainable materials. Sapro-Tech is developing an innovative plastic-free, biopolymer-based leather alternative designed to replace conventional synthetic and animal leather. We are looking for a talented researcher to join our team for a paid 10-week internship and contribute to the development of this exciting technology. We're looking for someone who: Has recently completed (or is close to completing) a BSc Hons,MSc or PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, Polymer Science, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related field. Has strong hands-on research experience in chemistry or materials development. Is highly skilled in experimental design, laboratory techniques, and analysing experimental results. Is an excellent communicator with strong problem-solving abilities. Is motivated, adaptable, and able to work both independently and within a small, focused research team. Is based in Auckland (or able to work in Auckland). Is eligible to work in New Zealand and ideally can start immediately. What you’ll be doing Designing and conducting experiments to improve the performance of novel biopolymer materials. Characterising the chemical, mechanical, and physical properties of newly developed materials. Using an iterative research approach to optimise formulations and material performance. Working closely with the founders on technology that has the potential to transform the sustainable materials industry. Eligibility Applicants must be still completing or have completed their degree within the past 12 months to be eligible for this internship.
