Lead technology that supports safer communities across Aotearoa Shape the future of enterprise applications at national scale Influence meaningful change with clear purpose and impact Ngā kawenga | About the role As Director Core Business Applications, you will lead technology teams that make a real difference to communities across Aotearoa. This is a rare opportunity to shape and lead some of the most critical digital products within Ara Poutama Aotearoa. Our core business applications support the people and systems that enable frontline staff to deliver safer communities every day. From our Integrated Offender Management System through to enterprise platforms such as SAP, the work you lead has a direct connection to our purpose and the outcomes we achieve for Aotearoa. Leading two significant product groups, you will be responsible for the ongoing performance, reliability, and evolution of a complex portfolio of enterprise applications. You will work at the intersection of technology, business strategy, and service delivery, helping to set direction, make investment decisions, and ensure our technology roadmap delivers meaningful operational value. This role offers the scale and complexity that experienced technology leaders are looking for. Corrections is a large and diverse organisation with a broad technology landscape, a significant change agenda, and a constant focus on improving outcomes. As part of a senior leadership team, you will have the autonomy and flexibility to shape how work is delivered while building high-performing teams and creating culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement. You will work closely with senior leaders, vendors, and partners to balance operational priorities with long-term strategic goals, ensuring every investment supports sustainable outcomes and our vision set out in (Hōkai Rangi). Mōu | About you You are an experienced enterprise technology leader who thrives in complex environments and enjoys turning challenges into opportunities. You have led large-scale business applications and delivery functions within sizeable organisations and understand what it takes to balance operational performance, organisational transformation, competing priorities, and diverse stakeholder expectations. Most importantly, you are motivated by the opportunity to influence positive change. You want to be part of an organisation where you can see a clear connection between the decisions you make and the outcomes they deliver. You are comfortable setting strategic direction, building alignment across teams and stakeholders, and making difficult decisions when required, while bringing people with you through a collaborative and authentic leadership approach. Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and experience To be successful in this role you will have: Extensive experience leading complex business applications, digital products, and delivery portfolios within a large enterprise environment, including major programmes and projects. Proven ability to deliver, prioritise and deliver multiple long-term roadmaps while balancing competing priorities, dependencies, resources, and risk. Exceptional stakeholder leadership skills, with experience building buy in across large organisations and engaging confidently at Executive Leadership Team level. Demonstrated capability to identify business and service delivery challenges and translate them into practical technology strategies, investment decisions and delivery outcomes. Experienced people leader, including leading other leaders, with a track record of coaching, developing and motivating managers and teams to deliver outcomes and creating conditions for high performance. Utu ā-tau | Salary We are expecting to appoint within the range of $211,916 - $240,000 per annum. Appointment and remuneration will reflect skills and experience relevant to the role.
