Based in Auckland (East Tamaki), you will lead the optimisation of our last-mile freight operations with a sharp focus on financial performance, safety, compliance, and exceptional customer service. Your Purpose This pivotal leadership role sees you maximise the performance of our self-managed commercial freight fleet. You will own the commercial results, drive strategic initiatives, and continuously improve processes and technology to deliver superior efficiency and service across the Group. Your Responsibilities Develop and execute freight network strategies focused on commercial outcomes and efficiency Lead the commercial truck fleet, ensuring maintenance, compliance, and supplier performance Manage cost models, performance variances, and margin improvement opportunities Champion nationwide expansion of in-house freight services and recommend new locations Support branch teams with day-to-day driver operations, safety, and service delivery Deliver robust reporting and insights using telematics and data-driven dashboards Your Skills & Attributes Tertiary qualification in a relevant field 5+ years’ freight & logistics experience with strong leadership and analytical skills Demonstrated fleet management and strategic thinking capability Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills Proactive, continuous improvement mindset with the confidence to challenge the status quo Class 4/5 Truck licence with Hiab experience (advantageous) For You Full-time, Monday to Friday role with flexible/hybrid working options once established Competitive remuneration package including company car Health and life insurance benefits Retail discounts and annual salary reviews Opportunity to drive meaningful change in a new strategic role Why Steel & Tube?
