Solutions are developed to be future-proofed, supporting long-term operational and technological needs. Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Automation Engineer role based in Hastings. The Automation Engineer will design, develop, and implement automation and robotic solutions for industrial and postharvest applications. Day-to-day tasks include programming and configuring control systems, commissioning equipment, and optimizing processes for performance and reliability. The role involves diagnosing and resolving technical issues, collaborating with electrical engineers and project teams, and ensuring systems meet safety, quality, and client specifications. The Automation Engineer will also prepare technical documentation and support ongoing maintenance and upgrades of installed systems. Qualifications Strong skills in Automation and Robotics for designing, programming, and commissioning industrial systems. Proficiency in Electrical Engineering and Process Control for integrating and optimizing control hardware and software. Ability in Troubleshooting to diagnose, analyze, and resolve equipment and system faults efficiently. Relevant tertiary qualification in engineering (e.g., electrical, automation, mechatronics) or equivalent practical experience. Experience with PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and industrial communication protocols is highly beneficial. Understanding of safety standards and compliance requirements in industrial environments. Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams. Capacity to work on-site in Hastings, with a hands-on approach to commissioning and support.
