Are you an experienced infrastructure engineer looking for an opportunity to make a real impact? We're looking for a Senior Digital Engineer to join our Digital Services team on a 2-year fixed-term basis. This is an opportunity to bring your technical expertise to a diverse technology environment, providing leadership across Council's core IT infrastructure while helping deliver key initiatives that will strengthen and support our digital services into the future. Working alongside a collaborative team, you'll combine hands-on technical engineering with strategic thinking. You'll design and implement infrastructure solutions, provide expert advice to projects and leaders, mentor other engineers, and help shape the future direction of Council's technology environment. Whether your expertise is in networking and security or platforms and systems, you'll play a key role in delivering secure, reliable and resilient services that support both our organisation and the wider Napier community. Te Āheinga - The Opportunity In this role you'll: Lead the design, implementation and continual improvement of Council's core IT infrastructure Provide technical leadership across networking, cloud, platforms or security services Strengthen the security, reliability and performance of Council's digital environment Provide expert technical advice to projects, programmes and future technology planning Mentor and support Digital Services team members, sharing knowledge and building capability Work collaboratively across Council and with technology partners to deliver practical, customer-focused solutions He kōrero mōhou - About You You'll bring: Significant experience delivering enterprise IT infrastructure solutions within complex environments Strong expertise across infrastructure engineering, networking, cloud platforms or cybersecurity The ability to analyse complex technical issues and develop practical, well‑considered solutions Experience designing, implementing and supporting secure, resilient infrastructure Confidence providing technical leadership, influencing decisions and guiding projects from concept through to delivery Excellent relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non‑technical teams A collaborative approach, strong initiative and commitment to continuous improvement Relevant industry certifications, ITIL knowledge, or experience with technologies such as Microsoft Infrastructure, VMware, Aruba or Fortinet will be highly regarded. You will be based in Napier The annual salary package for this role is $107,375 - $120,008 (including KiwiSaver), with the final offer depending on your skills and experience.
