Mō te tūranga - About the role Responsibilities As a Kitchen hand, you will be responsible for assisting the Food Services Team Leader to prepare and serve tasty and nutritious meals for lunch and dinner. Confidence in the kitchen with meal preparation is important along with the following: Prepare morning and afternoon tea, as well as daily meals Clear tables when all residents have finished eating Ensure meals are served at the appropriate size and temperature Maintain daily food and fridge temperature checks Operate within food hygiene standards and protocols Be considerate of residents during mealtimes and ensure their needs are met appropriately As there will be a requirement to carry out meal preparation, some flexibility regarding daily duties will be expected to meet the needs of the kitchen. This position is Fixed Term form November 2026 to end of January 2027. Working through the summer holidays including Christmas and New Years is a must in this role, but don't worry celebrating with us in the Home is always fun! Hours for this role are in the morning working 11:00 am to 19:00pm Tuesday to Saturday. There is a possibility of additional hours at times to cover leave and so flexibility and willingness to help at these times is always appreciated! Mō koe - About you Skills As well as a passion for the wellbeing of our elders, you will be enthusiastic but patient and well organised with great interpersonal skills. You will share our values of empathy, compassion, and respect.
