Te tūranga – The role This is a unique opportunity being part of leading a large project for Te Pūtea Matua | Reserve Bank of New Zealand. As our Senior Project Manager, you will lead the project through its Detailed Business Case phase, overseeing the planning, coordination and delivery of a complex and strategically significant programme of work. Working closely with senior leaders, governance groups, technical specialists and external partners, you'll drive project outcomes while ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and project management best practice. You'll be responsible for managing project scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, stakeholder engagement and procurement activities, ensuring delivery of high-quality outcomes within agreed parameters. This role offers the opportunity to influence critical decision-making, navigate complexity, and contribute to infrastructure and operational solutions that support the resilience of New Zealand's cash system. This is a fixed term position until August 2027. Ō pūkenga – About you We’re looking for an experienced and commercially astute project leader who thrives in complex environments and has a track record of successfully delivering large-scale infrastructure or capital projects. You'll bring: Extensive project management experience, including at least 10 years delivering complex infrastructure projects and several years operating at a senior project management level. Strong knowledge of the Treasury Better Business Cases (BBC) framework and its practical application. Proven experience leading multidisciplinary project and design teams to deliver successful outcomes. Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence and build credibility with diverse audiences. Strong commercial acumen and experience managing project risks, budgets, procurement and governance requirements. A strategic mindset, sound judgement and the ability to navigate ambiguity while maintaining focus on delivery. A collaborative and proactive approach, with a passion for achieving outcomes and enabling organisational success. Knowledge of, or a commitment to building understanding of, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its application in the workplace.
