We're looking for a Payroll Specialist to join our team on a 6-month fixed-term basis, working approximately 20 hours per week. This opportunity has been created to backfill a team member who is temporarily seconded to a project, helping to ensure continuity of service and support across payroll operations. While the specific days and hours are yet to be confirmed, we can offer flexibility for the right candidate. The successful person will bring strong end-to-end payroll experience and be confident working within a complex environment using PayGlobal, which is essential for this role. Mō te Tūranga | About the role This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a collaborative, customer-focused environment. You'll be responsible for delivering accurate and timely payroll services while supporting employees, managers and stakeholders with payroll-related enquiries and advice. Key responsibilities include: Managing end-to-end payroll processing across multiple pay groups using PayGlobal. Verifying and processing employee claims, approvals and payroll-related transactions. Maintaining employee records and ensuring data integrity, confidentiality and accuracy. Responding to payroll enquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner. Investigating payroll discrepancies and identifying practical solutions. Conducting payroll reviews, audits and quality checks to minimise risk and ensure compliance. Providing expert payroll advice and guidance on payroll-related matters. Building strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Supporting continuous improvement initiatives and identifying opportunities to enhance payroll processes and service delivery. Ensuring payroll activities are completed in line with New Zealand employment legislation and organisational requirements. You'll be an experienced payroll professional who takes pride in delivering accurate work and exceptional customer service. You're highly organised, detail-oriented and comfortable managing competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism. Ideally, you'll bring: Proven end-to-end payroll experience. Strong PayGlobal experience (essential). Sound knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation. Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. The ability to investigate issues, identify trends and implement solutions. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills. Strong organisational and time management skills. The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a team environment.
