We're growing our mobile engineering capability and are looking for a Software Specialist - Mobile (Android) to join the newly formed Digital Cards Experiences Squad. This squad is focused on shaping how customers discover, manage and use their Visa products through ASB's digital channels. From enhancing existing experiences to building entirely new mobile capabilities, you'll help deliver seamless, secure and intuitive customer experiences within the ASB Mobile app. This is an opportunity to work at scale, solve complex technical challenges and help define the next generation of card and payment experiences for ASB customers. Te mahi ki ASB | What you'll do As a Software Specialist - Mobile (Android), you'll be a senior individual contributor within a highly experienced team of mobile engineers. You'll work alongside a team of seven senior engineers, product specialists, designers and security experts to deliver mobile experiences used by hundreds of thousands of New Zealanders every day. This role is hands-on and focused on building great software. You'll play a key role in delivering both new features and enhancements to existing customer experiences within the ASB Mobile app. In this role you will: Design, build and support high-quality Android experiences within the ASB Mobile app. Deliver new customer features alongside enhancements and optimisation of existing experiences. Develop secure, scalable and reliable solutions that support millions of customer interactions. Work closely with Product Owners, Customer Experience Owners, designers and engineers to translate business and customer needs into technical solutions. Champion engineering excellence through clean code, thoughtful architecture, testing and secure development practices. Contribute to sprint planning, estimation and delivery within an Agile environment. Improve and evolve shared mobile capabilities, engineering standards and development practices. Collaborate with teams across ASB to deliver seamless customer experiences across digital channels. Help shape the future direction of mobile engineering at ASB. You're an experienced Android engineer who enjoys building products, solving complex technical challenges and creating great customer experiences. You'll bring a strong engineering mindset, a passion for mobile technology and experience delivering applications within complex, security-conscious environments. You’ll ideally have: Strong understanding of modern Android development frameworks, tooling and best practices. Experience designing and delivering scalable, maintainable mobile applications. Knowledge of modern architecture patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture or similar approaches. Strong understanding of mobile security principles and secure development practices. Experience with automated testing, CI/CD pipelines and modern software engineering practices. Experience working in banking, payments, financial services or other highly regulated environments. Strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. A growth mindset and passion for continuous improvement. It would be a bonus if you also have: Experience working in large-scale enterprise environments. Exposure to cards, payments, digital banking or customer-facing mobile platforms. Experience contributing to shared mobile frameworks, component libraries or platform capabilities.
