Assistant Banquets Manager - Full Time (Please note that you must already have work rights in New Zealand to be considered for this role) We are looking for an experienced and motivated Assistant Banquets Manager to help lead our busy Banquets operation. Working closely with the Banquets Manager, you will support the planning and delivery of conferences, weddings, gala dinners, meetings and large-scale events. You will lead the team on the floor, ensure each event runs smoothly and maintain the high service standards our guests expect from Cordis, Auckland. This is an exciting opportunity for a confident hospitality leader who enjoys fast-paced event operations and is ready to take the next step in their management career. Key Responsibilities Supporting the Banquets Manager with the daily operation of the department Leading the Banquets team during conferences, weddings and special events Reviewing event orders and ensuring all operational requirements are understood Coordinating event set-up, service delivery and pack-down Conducting team briefings and allocating responsibilities before each event Ensuring events are delivered on time and according to the agreed requirements Maintaining strong communication with the Kitchen, Events, Engineering and other hotel departments Building positive relationships with event organisers and responding promptly to requests Monitoring service standards and resolving guest concerns professionally Supporting colleague recruitment, training, coaching and development Assisting with rostering and managing labour in line with business demands Ensuring equipment, linen, stock and event spaces are prepared and maintained Supporting beverage and inventory controls Ensuring compliance with food safety, liquor licensing and health and safety requirements Promoting a positive, inclusive and high-performing team environment Taking responsibility for the department in the Banquets Manager’s absence Our ideal candidate Previous leadership experience within Banquets, Food and Beverage or event operations Experience delivering conferences, weddings and large-scale events Strong operational knowledge of banquet service and room set-ups A confident and hands-on leadership style The ability to lead and motivate a diverse team Strong organisation, planning and time-management skills Excellent written and verbal communication The ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure Strong attention to detail and a commitment to exceptional service Confidence communicating with guests, clients and internal departments Good commercial awareness, including labour and cost control Knowledge of food safety, liquor licensing and workplace health and safety Full flexibility to work a rotating roster, including early mornings, late evenings, weekends and public holidays What we offer Discounts on dining and accommodation Free nights at our overseas hotels Staff meals provided Discounted parking ($6 per day) $200 dry-cleaning allowance each month Milestone Service benefits Opportunities to grow your career within Langham Hospitality Group Be proud to work at New Zealand’s largest hotel If you are an energetic and experienced events professional who thrives on delivering memorable occasions, we would love to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
