Aboutthe Role Wehave an exciting opportunity for an experienced Occupational Therapist to join the supportive teamat Christchurch Hospital. This is a part-time (32 hours/week) permanent position, based on the Christchurch Hospital Acute Campussite. Occupationaltherapists work across multiple clinical areas at Christchurch Hospitalincluding: Trauma,Orthopaedics, General Medicine, Surgery, Neurology, Acute Stroke, Respiratory,Cardiology, Paediatrics, ICU, ED, Burns & Plastics, Oncology, Hand Therapy,Home Visit team.These positions are ward based and where you will beworking will depend on your current skills and the overall needs of those whoaccess our service. Inthis role, you will be responsible for: Working to provide comprehensive inter-disciplinary andspecific occupational therapy based assessments, patient centred goalsetting, therapeutic interventions, and education to whānau and friendsand IDT colleagues Working with patients from diverse social and culturalbackgrounds and working collaboratively with whānau, the widermultidisciplinary team to ensure the best outcomes Delegation of clinical tasks to Allied HealthAssistants Identifying service needs and contributing towardsquality improvement initiatives Being involved in patient-centred discharge planning Mentoring and supervision of other colleagues withinthe wider Occupational Therapy service As part of the team you will also contribute to theweekend roster on a regular basis AboutYou Youwill have a passion and desire to work in acute care within a team environment,and want to grow and develop professionally as an occupational therapist. Youcan expect to be well supported in your role. You will receive mentoring,supervision and professional development so that you can grow as anoccupational therapist and progress in your career. Yourskills/ experience will include: Sound clinical assessment and problem solving skills You will have minimum 2-years in-patient experience as you will be expected to go on to advanced rotations The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively,to develop positive interpersonal relationships, and work flexibly withinthe inter-disciplinary team, with a team player attitude Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Strong clinical reasoning skills and use of evidenceinformed practice Effective time management, organisational andprioritisation skills Experience with discharge planning The willingness to engage in quality improvement mahi A willingness to learn and to share your learning Registration with the NZ Occupational Therapy Board andcurrent Annual Practicing Certificate Competency with te ao Māori, tikanga, and te reo Māorior a commitment to starting your journey and taking ownership of yourlearning and growth Workingfor Health New Zealand Health New Zealand | Te Whatu Ora is dedicated to ensuringexcellent healthcare for the people of New Zealand.
