Alcohol and Drug Clinician Oamaru Salary - $79,014 - $110,290 + Kiwisaver Permanent 1.0 FTE (40hrs per week) opportunity Join a collaborative Allied Health and Mental Health team where you'll play a key role in improving health outcomes and supporting people experiencing mental health and addiction challenges About the Role Working within an interdisciplinary environment, you’ll provide evidence‑based assessment, intervention, care planning, and support, helping young people, individuals and whānau achieve meaningful recovery outcomes while promoting equity, wellbeing and independence. Deliver comprehensive assessments, treatment planning and evidence‑based interventions within your professional scope of practice. Support recovery‑focused outcomes through education, advocacy and culturally safe practice. Contribute to reducing health inequities, including improving outcomes for Māori and other priority populations. Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, professional practice and legislative compliance. This role is primarily located in Oamaru but given the nature of the job you may also need to travel to other locations within the Southern district as and when required. It is also a requirement of this position for you to become a Duly Authorised Officer (DAO) under the Mental Health Act 1992, and it is expected you will complete this training within 6-12 months of your commencement date. About You You’re a compassionate and resilient health professional who is passionate about improving outcomes for people experiencing mental health and addiction challenges. You bring strong clinical judgement, a commitment to evidence-based practice, and the ability to work collaboratively with clients, whānau, community partners and multidisciplinary teams. Hold a relevant degree qualification and current registration. Have at least two years’ post‑graduate experience in mental health and/or addiction services, ideally including Opioid Substitution Treatment (OST). Demonstrate strong assessment, brief intervention and clinical decision‑making skills, particularly when working with young people. Deliver evidence‑based, recovery‑focused treatment and care planning within your professional scope of practice. Be a collaborative and adaptable team player with excellent communication skills, integrity, resilience and a genuine commitment to supporting recovery and wellbeing. Full drivers license.
