The Role As Assistant Night Manager, you'll be the calm, capable presence keeping the hotel running seamlessly through the night, stepping up to lead full night operations in the Night Manager's absence. From welcoming late arrivals with genuine warmth to completing the nightly audit, managing security and taking care of anything the night throws your way, this is a role that demands someone who thrives in an autonomous environment and takes real pride in delivering a five-star experience at any hour. We're looking for an experienced hotel night auditor ready to take the next step, or someone already operating at Assistant Night Manager level. Key Responsibilities Welcome late arrivals and farewell early departures with the warmth and polish that QT is known for, ensuring every overnight guest interaction is personalised and memorable. Step up to oversee full hotel night operations in the Night Manager's absence, taking responsibility for the safety and security of guests, staff and the property throughout the night. Complete nightly audit processes including reconciliation of hotel outlet transactions, daily revenue postings, financial reporting and accurate cashiering in line with hotel policies. Manage and confirm in-house guest reservation details, collate departure paperwork and coordinate handover with the Front Office team at shift end. Conduct regular security and safety walkthroughs of the hotel, proactively identifying and resolving any risks or hazards. Lead, coach and support the overnight crew, maintaining impeccable grooming standards and a positive, guest-first team culture throughout every shift. What You'll Bring Previous hotel experience in a night audit or Assistant Night Manager role is a must. We will also consider a seasoned night auditor who is ready to take the next step into a leadership position. A full, valid New Zealand driver's licence and a current Manager's Certificate (liquor licensing) are both required for this role. Strong PMS system knowledge is essential. Opera Cloud experience is a significant advantage. Confidence overseeing hotel operations independently and making sound decisions under pressure through the night. Strong financial acumen with experience completing audit processes, managing cashiering and producing accurate nightly reports. A warm, polished and professional manner that puts guests at ease regardless of the hour. Full flexibility to work overnight shifts, weekends and public holidays as required.
