Job Description

Sunny Days is a licensed early childhood service within Weave Hawke's Bay, providing a warm, safe and nurturing environment where tamariki are supported to learn, grow and thrive. We are looking for an experienced and passionate Team Leader who can provide strong educational leadership while remaining actively involved in day-to-day teaching and learning. This role provides leadership and guidance to a team of teachers, supporting high-quality practice, positive outcomes for tamariki and consistent achievement of ECE licensing requirements. You will be a positive role model who enjoys mentoring others, strengthening practice and contributing to the ongoing development of our centre. Key responsibilities include Providing effective leadership, guidance and mentoring to your teaching team. Supporting Professional Growth Cycles, internal evaluation and continuous improvement. Leading high-quality teaching and learning based on the individual and group needs of tamariki. Supporting teachers to plan, implement and evaluate meaningful learning experiences. Maintaining high standards across ECE Regulations and Licensing Criteria. Leading regular team meetings and contributing to wider Sunny Days goals. Promoting excellent health, safety and wellbeing practices for tamariki and adults. Building positive relationships with whānau and our wider community. About you You will be a qualified ECE teacher with a current Teaching Practising Certificate and First Aid Certificate. You will bring proven positive leadership experience, ideally as an experienced teacher at steps 7-10, along with strong knowledge of ECE Regulations and Licensing Criteria. You will be organised, self‑motivated and confident taking initiative, with excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. You will also hold a full driver licence and be comfortable driving our centre van.
