Job Description

We're looking for an experienced People & Culture Business Partner to join our team on a fixed-term parental leave cover through to February 2027. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced HR professional with strong employment relations expertise, proven stakeholder management skills, and the ability to influence and coach leaders through complex people matters. Working across our Unitec and Manukau Institute of Technology campuses, you'll partner closely with leaders to build capability, strengthen culture, and deliver practical people solutions that support organisational success. About the Role As a trusted business partner, you'll provide expert guidance across a broad range of people matters, with a particular focus on employment relations, leadership coaching, and organisational change process. This role is about the right person with the right level of experience and as such we are open to discussing part-time or full-time hours. Providing expert employment relations advice and support on complex people matters Coaching and developing leaders to build confidence and capability in people management Managing workplace investigations, disciplinary processes, performance, and employee wellbeing matters Supporting organisational change initiatives and workforce planning activities Partnering with leaders to drive engagement, culture, and performance outcomes Contributing to the development and implementation of people policies, frameworks, and initiatives Using insights and data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement About You You'll be a seasoned HR professional who enjoys partnering with leaders and navigating complex employment relations challenges. Significant experience in a HR Business Partner or Senior HR Advisor role Strong working knowledge of New Zealand employment legislation and employment relations practices Demonstrated experience managing complex ER cases and providing strategic advice to leaders Excellent coaching, influencing, and stakeholder management skills Strong communication skills with the ability to build credibility and trust quickly Experience working in large or complex organisations is advantageous An understanding of, or commitment to, Te Tiriti o Waitangi and creating inclusive workplaces About Us A new era of vocational education is taking shape in Tāmaki Makaurau through the unification of Unitec and Manukau Institute of Technology.
