We’re looking for a friendly and motivated Catering Assistant to support daily food service delivery in Tupuanuku Hall at University of Canterbury . You’ll help prepare and present meals, provide warm and professional customer service, and ensure all dining and kitchen areas meet Compass Group’s high standards of safety, hygiene, and presentation. This is a Permanent position with 12 hours guaranteed per week. Assist with food preparation, portioning and plating, ensuring adherence to the site food safety plan. Provide warm, friendly customer service, respond to customer needs, and support the dining experience. Maintain clean and tidy dining, kitchen and public areas—including cleaning tables, equipment, and handling waste. Receive and rotate stock, replenish supplies, and follow routine instructions and communication processes. Work effectively as part of a team, follow company procedures, and carry out additional duties such as dishwashing. A team player who can also work independently, with strong communication and a positive attitude. Physically fit, reliable, hardworking, and committed to maintaining high presentation and hygiene standards. Experience in a similar role (preferred) and comfortable working in busy food service environments. Flexible, proactive, and eager to learn through on‑the‑job training and development.
