Registered Nurse - Faster Cancer Treatment (FCT)/Outsourcing Coordinator Location: Dunedin or Southland. Permanent vacancy. Part time up to 0.8 FTE. About the role Make a difference beyond the bedside. Are you an experienced Registered Nurse looking for an opportunity to influence patient outcomes on a larger scale? Health New Zealand is seeking a passionate and proactive nurse to join the Planned Care team as a Faster Cancer Treatment (FCT)/Outsourcing Coordinator. This unique role combines patient advocacy, care coordination, service improvement, and clinical collaboration to help ensure patients receive timely surgical and cancer treatment. Working across the Southern district, you will support patients through complex healthcare pathways, helping reduce surgical wait times and improve Faster Cancer Treatment performance. Hours of work to be negotiated with the successful candidate, please indicate your preferred FTE in your application. In this role, you will: Review surgical waitlists and identify patients suitable for outsourcing. Coordinate patient care and preparation to support successful treatment outcomes. Track and monitor Faster Cancer Treatment patients to ensure key milestones are achieved. Work collaboratively with surgeons, anaesthetists, cancer nurse coordinators, service managers, and multidisciplinary teams. Monitor patient progress and proactively address barriers and delays. Support improvements to patient pathways, systems, and processes. Analyse and report on outsourcing activity, performance measures, and patient outcomes. Develop strong relationships with private providers across the region. Contribute to service improvement initiatives aimed at reducing waiting times and improving access to care. Educate and support teams on Faster Cancer Treatment pathways and processes. About You You will be a Registered Nurse who: Hold a current Nursing Council of New Zealand Annual Practising Certificate. Has experience in surgical services, oncology, planned care, patient flow, care coordination, or a related specialty. Is highly organised and able to manage multiple priorities. Enjoys working collaboratively across teams and services. Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Can interpret information, identify risks, and drive solutions. Is passionate about improving equity, access, and patient outcomes. Demonstrates initiative and a commitment to continuous improvement. Strong computer literacy and attention to detail is essential Experience in patient administration systems, waitlist management, or surgical booking processes would be advantageous.
