MHAIDS are seeking a Kaitohu-Kakano Whakauru/Clinical CulturalEducator who can work in partnership with our other Educators to lead thedevelopment and delivery of a contemporary cultural education across theservice. The role will ensure Tiriti o Waitangi and cultural concepts are wellintegrated into all education programs and professional clinical practice. The role builds on foundation constructs of Tangata Tiriti &Tangata Whenua partnership and Implicit bias and ensures that Te Whare Tapa Whāis embedded into clinical frameworks. However, there is scope to developfurther and think outside 'the box' in meeting the primary goal of improvingoutcomes for Māori accessing our service. The Kaitohu-Kakano Whakauru also has a key role in supporting MHAIDSstaff cultural competency skills by being available for support, advice andpromoting that cultural concepts are evident in all MHAIDS education / trainingprograms. This includes overseeing the Diversity programs that enhance clinicalpractice with all cultural and linguistically diverse (CALD) client groupswithin MHAIDS. About theTeam/Service/ Location MHAIDSLearning and Development are a diverse team of Educators, InstructionalDesigners and Administrators with a range of experience from relatively new to20+ years of experience in education or training. Each of our team have their own brief on theareas they deliver education, but the vision is to create a supportive cohesiveteam. The team is responsible for organising and delivering programs thatsupport workforce development and capability across all MHAIDS staff. We alsowork collaboratively with other subject matter experts (Lived experience,Whānau,) to deliver training in a variety of other areas. About you Our Kaitohu-Kakano Whakauru needs to have astrong sense of who are they and where they are from. This requires a highlevel of self -awareness, emotional intelligence and the ability to articulateTe Āo Māori concepts in a mana-enhancing manner that is understood at alllearning levels. Ideally, you will have both clinical andeducation/training experience and are passionate about culturally competentpractice. Being able to work autonomously and maintain effective keyrelationships are attributes for this position to be effective. A good sense of humour would be beneficial butnot essential in doing this role but there are times when the challenges canseem difficult. A capacity to work both independently and as part of a team isvital to the role.
