Plant Supervisor - LF & MT

Westland Milk Products, part of the Yili Oceania group, is seeking a motivated and people-focused Production Supervisor to join our Operations team in Hokitika. As a Production Supervisor, you will play a critical role in leading day-to-day production activities, ensuring your team delivers against operational targets while maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, food safety, and compliance. About the Role Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll lead a team of Operators and Process Controllers, ensuring production is carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with quality and food safety requirements. Key responsibilities include: Leading, coaching, and developing production teams to achieve operational goals Setting clear expectations around safety, quality, performance, and behaviour Monitoring daily production activities and ensuring adherence to production plans and procedures Driving a strong health and safety culture, including hazard identification, incident investigation, and near-miss reporting Supporting quality, food safety, RMP, and compliance requirements Managing performance concerns through coaching, feedback, and formal processes where required Collaborating with Maintenance, Technical, Quality, Health & Safety, and HR teams Driving continuous improvement initiatives and supporting operational change Ensuring effective shift communication and handovers What You'll Bring To be successful in this role you'll have: At least 3 years' experience in a food manufacturing or similar production environment Previous experience leading teams in a manufacturing setting Strong people leadership and performance management capability Knowledge of food safety, quality assurance, and health & safety practices Excellent planning, organisation, and problem-solving skills Strong communication skills with the ability to engage and influence others A continuous improvement mindset and a proactive approach to learning The ability to remain calm, resilient, and decisive in a fast-paced environment Experience within dairy manufacturing or powder processing environments would be highly regarded.
