Your opportunity This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping and sharing DairyNZ’s story. As Senior Strategic Communications and Media Advisor, you will develop and deliver strategic communications plans from end-to-end, working with our experts, farmers, internal teams, external stakeholders and media. Your work will help elevate DairyNZ’s strategic direction, highlight our scientific solutions and advocacy work, and protect and enhance our corporate reputation. Reporting to the Strategic Communications and Media Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the Strategic Communications and Media team, including: Develop and deliver strategic communications initiatives. Provide trusted media and reputation advice. Identify and maximise media opportunities. Pitch and promote DairyNZ stories. Manage media enquiries and messaging. Create content across multiple channels. Support issues and reputation management. Build and maintain key stakeholder relationships. About you You’ll be a confident and experienced communications professional who can operate strategically while delivering great content. You’ll be comfortable working with complex information, asking the right questions, shaping clear messages and helping others communicate with impact. You’ll bring strong judgement, a calm approach to issues management, and the ability to build trusted relationships inside and outside the organisation. We’d love to hear from you if you have: A relevant qualification in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Humanities, Political Studies, Science Communication or a related field. 8+ years' experience in communications, media, PR or journalism. Expertise in strategic communications, media engagement and reputation management. Exceptional writing and storytelling skills, with the ability to make complex topics accessible. Strong stakeholder management and influencing capability. Sound judgement, strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills. Established media networks and a proactive, solutions-focused approach.
