Driver Operator (Class 4 - Wellington)

Driver / Operator – Wellington More Than Just Driving InterGroup is looking for a reliable and motivated Driver / Operator to join our Wellington Infrastructure team. This is a hands‑on role where you'll operate specialist sump cleaning vehicles to help maintain Wellington's stormwater network. Alongside operating the truck, you'll be involved in setting up work sites, completing manual tasks, and working as part of a close‑knit crew to deliver essential maintenance services across the region. About The Role As a Driver / Operator, you'll be responsible for operating specialist sump cleaning vehicles to clean and maintain stormwater sumps, catch pits, and drainage assets throughout Wellington. This isn't a driving‑only position. You'll spend plenty of time operating the equipment, setting up sites, handling hoses, clearing debris, and completing the physical aspects of the job. No two days are the same, with work taking place across residential streets, busy urban areas, and commercial locations. Key Responsibilities Operate specialist sump cleaning vehicles safely and efficiently Clean and maintain stormwater sumps, catch pits, and drainage assets Operate vacuum and suction equipment Carry out manual operational tasks alongside vehicle operation Complete daily vehicle and equipment inspections Set up safe work sites and follow traffic management requirements Complete job documentation and maintenance records Follow all health and safety procedures About You You’ll have: A full Class 4 driver's licence Experience operating heavy vehicles or specialist equipment Good physical fitness and willingness to undertake manual work A strong commitment to health and safety A reliable attitude and strong work ethic The ability to work independently and as part of a team Experience in drainage, infrastructure, civil construction, or vacuum loading would be an advantage but isn't essential.
