Veterinary Nurse Full Time Takurua Vets is seeking a full time veterinary nurse to join our busy Christchurch GP and urgent care clinic. This is a role for a capable nurse who is confident across the practical realities of clinic life and who wants to contribute meaningfully to patient care, workflow, and day to day standards within a growing team. About The Role This is a full-time position based at Takurua Vets in Upper Riccarton, Christchurch. The role involves working across a busy small animal clinic with both general practice and urgent care responsibilities. The position includes patient care, surgical nursing, anaesthesia monitoring, inpatient support, dental procedures, client communication, and the broader day-to-day work that helps the clinic function well. It is a role for someone who is willing to be involved, take ownership, and contribute across both routine and more urgent aspects of practice. Because Takurua Vets also provides urgent and after-hours care, the role includes paid overtime and after-hours callouts at time and a half. What We Are Looking For We are looking for a veterinary nurse who is calm, practical, dependable, and serious about doing good work. You should be able to work well in a team, communicate clearly, and maintain a high standard of patient care across a varied caseload. This role will suit someone who is confident in a hands‑on clinical environment and comfortable contributing across surgical nursing, anaesthesia monitoring, inpatient care, dentistry, and client support. We value nurses who are organised, proactive, and willing to take responsibility for the quality of their work and the systems around them. Experience And Expectations A minimum of 3 years of companion animal nursing experience is required. We would especially like to hear from nurses who are comfortable in a busy clinic environment, who can think practically, and who are able to contribute reliably across both everyday workflow and more urgent clinical situations. Because the clinic also provides after-hours support, this role includes weekend work and after-hours on‑call responsibilities.
