Job Description Project Manager – Teaching Practice Fixed-Term (September 2026 to December 2027) Full-time 1.0 FTE (40 hours per week) Based in Wellington Ko wai mātou | About Us Te Aho o Te Kura Pounamu (Te Kura) is New Zealand's largest school. Mō tēnei tūranga mahi | About this position We are looking for a highly experienced and proactive Project Manager to lead our Teaching Practice Project. The role will lead a strategic project incorporating the 2026 teaching standards and our Te Kura approach to further strengthen teaching practice and continue to improve outcomes for our ākonga across Te Kura. You will lead the project from initiation through to implementation, driving meaningful and measurable benefits for ākonga, whānau, and kaimahi. Key Responsibilities Include Leading the project that supports and enhances teaching practice across Te Kura, and encompassing the implementation of the 2026 teaching standards in our distance environment Engaging proactively with stakeholders across Te Kura to deliver guidance, processes and resources that support our collective goal to deliver teaching and learning so our ākonga thrive Developing project plans, timelines, and deliverables aligned with strategic priorities Coordinating project activities and ensuring milestones are delivered on time and within scope Monitoring project progress, managing risks, and providing regular reporting and updates Supporting continuous improvement and promoting best-practice project management approaches Ko koe tēnei | About you You’ll bring your well-developed project management skills gained from successful project implementation and your strong stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to build effective relationships to achieve project outcomes. You’ll enjoy a dynamic workplace with dedicated kaimahi who value collaboration and have a shared goal to support ākonga in their learning. You bring a proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to balance multiple priorities while driving clearly defined project deliverables forward. Experience in the education sector and a commitment to equity and achieving positive outcomes for Māori, Pacific, and priority learners would enable you to bring valuable insights to this mahi.
