Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Geologist

A fantastic opportunity has come up for an experienced Geotechnical Engineer or Engineering Geologist to join a well-regarded, multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in Queenstown. This is a chance to take real ownership of your own project portfolio, work across a broad mix of geotechnical challenges, and be part of a down to earth, close-knit team. What the role involves You’ll be trusted with projects end-to-end: scoping and running site investigations, interpreting geotechnical data, and writing up clear, defensible reports for clients. Expect plenty of time in the field too - sampling, testing and logging, alongside coordinating timelines, keeping clients in the loop, and getting out on site during construction to inspect and sign off on works. You’ll be part of a Queenstown-based team but plugged into a wider national network of engineers and geologists, so there’s always someone to bounce ideas off and learn from. What you’ll bring A relevant tertiary qualification. Bachelor of Engineering (Civil or Environmental), or Bachelor of Science majoring in Geology or Earth Sciences, or equivalent 3+ years in a comparable geotechnical or engineering geology role Solid working knowledge of NZ Building Code, relevant standards and statutory requirements, plus the software tools of the trade A working understanding of soil mechanics, slope stability, retaining structures, earthworks and foundation design The organisation An engineering consultancy operates across several disciplines, including structural, geotechnical, fire, civil and environmental engineering.
