Financial Accountant

Established business with strong systems and growth Our client is a well-established Canterbury business with a strong reputation in its sector and a long history of delivering reliable, high-quality service. With continued growth and a broad operational footprint, they are looking for a capable Financial Accountant to join their finance team and support the wider business with accurate reporting, strong financial controls, and practical commercial insight. This is a great opportunity for an accountant who enjoys working in a hands-on commercial environment, where no two days are quite the same. You will be involved across financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, analysis, and process improvement, while working closely with operational and senior management teams. Key Responsibilities Prepare month-end journals, reconciliations, and financial reports Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis across business units Assist with cashflow reporting and working capital management Prepare GST, FBT, and other statutory compliance requirements Maintain fixed asset registers, leases, and Capex reporting Provide accurate financial information to support operational decision-making Work closely with managers across the business to improve reporting accuracyAssist with ad hoc analysis, project work, and wider finance team support About You We are looking for someone who is technically strong and confident working with people across different areas of a business. You will ideally bring: CA qualified (CA ANZ or equivalent) with tertiary qualifications in Accounting Tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or a related discipline Previous experience in a financial accounting or commercial accounting role Clear communication skills and the ability to build relationships across the business This is an excellent opportunity to join a stable and successful business in a role that offers variety, responsibility, and genuine commercial exposure.
