Infrastructure Engineer

We’re working with an established Hawke’s Bay organisation looking for two Infrastructure Engineers to join its internal IT Operations team for a 12 month fixed term period. The organisation has a substantial programme of technical work to deliver over the coming year, including network rollouts, switch and SD-WAN activity, infrastructure refreshes, and server and storage work. These are practical, hands‑on roles for people who enjoy solving problems, completing work properly, and keeping projects moving. You’ll work under the direction of experienced senior engineers and a project manager, with clear priorities, technical oversight, and agreed change processes. The opportunities sit at two different levels. One is suited to an intermediate to senior engineer with stronger infrastructure and project delivery experience. The other would suit a solid intermediate engineer who can support rollout activity, operational work, and issue resolution. Depending on your experience, your work may include: Supporting network, switch, and SD-WAN rollout activity Assisting with infrastructure refresh and implementation work Supporting server and storage environments Troubleshooting network, server, and infrastructure issues Completing BAU support, tickets, and follow‑up work Working from agreed instructions, change plans, and runbooks Testing and validating completed work Documenting changes, outcomes, and handover information Communicating progress, risks, and blockers clearly Escalating higher‑risk or complex issues to senior engineers What we’re looking for: Practical experience across infrastructure, networking or server support Exposure to switches, WAN, Wi‑Fi, firewalls or VLANs Experience with Windows Server or server and storage environments Confidence working within a live production environment Ability to pick up assigned work and see it through without close supervision Good judgement about when to troubleshoot independently and when to escalation Clear communication and reliable documentation habits Willingness to contribute across both project work and BAU support SD‑WAN or WAN rollout experience would be useful These roles are for capable engineers who enjoy practical delivery and can work productively within an established technical team.
