We're looking for an experienced Automation Tester (Software Specialist) to join our Capture and Storage Squad , where you'll play a key role in shaping quality engineering practices, advancing test automation, and supporting the modernisation of critical enterprise platforms. About the Team The Capture and Storage Squad sits within ASB's Customer Correspondence domain, responsible for the systems and services that support secure document capture, storage and exchange across the bank. These platforms play an important role in delivering trusted customer experiences while enabling teams across ASB to operate efficiently and securely. Working in a cross-functional Agile squad, you'll collaborate with engineers, product specialists and business stakeholders to continually improve our platforms, modernise legacy capabilities, and support the adoption of cloud-based technologies and contemporary engineering practices. About the Role This is a senior hands-on testing role with leadership responsibilities. You'll be the quality engineering specialist within the squad, driving test strategy, automation frameworks and quality practices across the software delivery lifecycle. You'll help embed quality from the outset, ensuring testing is integrated into delivery pipelines and supporting the squad to deliver high-quality outcomes at pace. You'll have the opportunity to influence testing approaches across a complex enterprise environment, grow automation capability, and contribute to technology modernisation initiatives that will help shape the future of our platforms. Key Responsibilities Lead and evolve the quality engineering and test automation strategy for the squad Design, build and maintain automated testing frameworks and solutions Drive shift-left testing practices across Agile and DevOps delivery Deliver testing across UI, API, integration, performance, security and operational testing layers Develop and maintain test strategies, plans and quality standards Support CI/CD pipelines through embedded automated testing Manage testing activities, environments, risks, defects and reporting Partner with stakeholders to coordinate end-to-end testing and release activities Mentor others and advocate for quality engineering best practice Contribute to the modernisation of enterprise platforms and cloud-based solutions About You You're an experienced automation testing professional who enjoys balancing strategic test leadership with hands-on technical delivery. You understand how to build sustainable testing practices that scale, and you're passionate about embedding quality throughout the engineering lifecycle rather than treating it as a final stage. You'll be comfortable working in complex environments, influencing stakeholders, and partnering with engineers to continuously improve how software is designed, tested and delivered. Most importantly, you'll bring a collaborative mindset, a passion for quality, and a desire to help teams deliver better outcomes for our customers. Key Skills and Experience Proven experience leading testing and quality engineering initiatives Strong test automation experience using Selenium/C# and Playwright/C# Experience developing and maintaining automation frameworks Strong understanding of Agile delivery and modern software development practices Working knowledge of Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines Experience creating and executing test strategies and test plans Strong knowledge across functional and non-functional testing disciplines Experience managing integrated test environments and test data Ability to analyse, communicate and escape risks, issues and testing outcomes Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills Experience working with cloud technologies ISTQB certification and banking or financial services experience would be advantageous Working for ASB At ASB, we want our people to thrive, both professionally and personally.
