Job Description

We are partnering with an established organisation seeking an experienced **Senior Software Engineer** to join its high-performing technology team. This is an excellent opportunity for a strong C# and .NET engineer who enjoys working across the full technology stack, building modern cloud-native solutions and contributing to important architectural and technical decisions. You will work within a collaborative engineering environment focused on quality, scalability, automation and continuous improvement. The Role As a Senior Software Engineer, you will design, develop and deliver secure, scalable and reliable software solutions using modern engineering practices. Although the position has a strong backend focus across C#, .NET and Azure, you will also contribute to front-end development using React and support the delivery of end-to-end solutions. Your responsibilities will include: Designing and developing cloud-native applications using C#, .NET and Microsoft Azure Building scalable solutions within microservices and event-driven architectures Developing modern front-end functionality using React Designing and consuming RESTful APIs using JSON and OpenAPI specifications Writing efficient SQL queries and working with relational and NoSQL databases Applying Domain-Driven Design principles and appropriate software design patterns Making pragmatic architectural decisions covering security, scalability, resilience and performance Developing automated unit, component and integration tests Working within a trunk-based development environment Supporting continuous integration and continuous delivery practices Containerising applications using Docker Collaborating with engineers, architects, product teams and other stakeholders Mentoring engineers and contributing to engineering standards and technical best practices Essential Skills and Experience You will bring strong commercial software engineering experience, including: Advanced proficiency in C# and the .NET framework Experience building and deploying cloud-native solutions on Microsoft Azure Strong experience designing and developing microservices Full-stack development experience, ideally including React Experience building RESTful services using JSON and OpenAPI specifications Strong SQL development and database query optimisation skills Knowledge of common software design patterns and when to apply them Experience designing solutions around non‑functional requirements such as security, scalability, availability and performance Understanding of event-driven architecture and Domain-Driven Design concepts Experience developing automated unit, component and integration tests Experience working with trunk-based development Strong knowledge of CI/CD practices and tooling Experience with containerisation, particularly Docker Experience in any of the following would be advantageous: Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management Elasticsearch for data indexing and search Caching technologies and in-memory databases NoSQL databases Node.js A bachelor’s degree in computer science, software engineering or a related discipline About You You are a pragmatic and quality-focused engineer who can balance technical excellence with commercial delivery. You enjoy solving complex problems, communicating technical concepts clearly and working collaboratively with others. You are comfortable contributing to architectural discussions while remaining hands‑on throughout the software development lifecycle.
