Job Description
Timberline is a premium supplier of architectural timber cladding, decking and interior products; proudly part of the Buildpro Group. Our promise, ‘Solve, Create, Deliver’, underpins the way we partner with architects, builders and developers around the country to help bring exceptional buildings and spaces to life. We're creating a new, senior leadership role based in Auckland to lead the execution of the Timberline strategy in the North Island. Timberline has established genuine market traction in the South Island, and the North Island opportunity is still in the early stages of maturity, which is exactly the point. You will build a sustainable, self-sufficient Auckland-based business unit and shape the future of Timberline alongside the Managing Director, building market awareness, specification demand and sales from a strong but early-stage platform. The Opportunity This role is a relationship-based role that includes business development, account management & sales. It's a strategic, relationship-led position for a high-calibre business builder who can operate credibly at a senior level, influence specification and product preference upstream, and open new doors for Timberline's exclusive and differentiated product range, with the potential to add to that range over time. You'll bring an existing, established network of industry relationships to the role from day one, and use it to build formal and informal alliances with builders, group home builders, architects, designers, developers and other key construction professionals (the strategic customers of this role) creating long-term, defensible demand for Timberline, not just one-off transactions. Early sales and wins matter, but they'll come from building momentum with the right customers, not from chasing any and every sale. In this role you will: Lead the execution of the Timberline strategy, developing strategic, preferred-supplier partnerships with builders, group home builders, architects, designers, developers and project managers Deliver early sales and wins in line with the strategic customer focus, growing Auckland revenue and margin as the strategy matures Influence specification upstream, positioning Timberline's exclusive product ranges as the preferred or specified solution with key industry partners Champion Timberline's products within targeted industry groups, educating partners on their technical, design and performance advantages Build the foundations of a self-sufficient Auckland business unit — market awareness, pipeline discipline and, over time, the team and capability required to scale Provide market insight, intelligence and strategic input directly to the Managing Director, contributing as a senior member of the lead team to Timberline's direction and, over time, the wider Group's success About You To succeed in this role, you will have: Significant experience in building products and/or timber and/ or construction and/or architectural supply. Timber product experience is an advantage, but not essential A genuine, existing network of relationships within the construction industry (within architects, builders, developers, group home builders and project managers professions) A proven track record of building senior, trust-based relationships, an understanding of specification-led selling environments, and the credibility to operate at a strategic level A commercially astute, long-term strategic mindset; you think in terms of partnerships and pipeline, not just the next sale Senior leadership experience, with the capability to build a business unit.Buildpro Group is a South Island based company, so you will be trusted to run the Auckland market largely on your own initiative, supported by an existing sales team and strong Group operational support across quotations, procurement, ordering and fulfilment Comfort on building sites, the confidence to open doors, a full, clean New Zealand driver's licence and a willingness to travel outside of Auckland when required Above all, this role suits a highly motivated, high-calibre leader who is excited about building a business unit around exclusive, proprietary products, and who wants the autonomy, challenge and reward that comes with a genuinely senior, strategic position; with the opportunity to grow into the lead team of an ambitious, expanding group. The Package This senior role carries a competitive remuneration package made up of a base salary, an incentive scheme, a vehicle and the tools of trade. The final package will be tailored to reflect the successful candidate's experience, existing industry network and individual capability. The incentive scheme is designed to reward the right behaviours, not just the next sale, while recognising the strategic partnerships, specifications and channels you build alongside the revenue they generate. We know genuine, defensible market positions take time to establish, and the package reflects that: if you're a capable operator who backs yourself to build something of lasting value, you'll share in the rewards as the business unit grows. If you're a driven, strategic business builder ready to shape the future of New Zealand's premium architectural timber supplier, we want to hear from you. #J-18808-Ljbffr
