Packaging Technologist - NZ

Your Impact

We're looking for a Packaging Technologist to join our team in Papakura. Reporting to the Senior Packaging Manager, you'll play a key role in delivering Packaging New Product Development (NPD) and Value Optimisation (VO) initiatives across our beverage portfolio.

Working closely with Operations, Procurement, Commercial teams, suppliers, and site stakeholders, you'll help bring new packaging solutions to life, improve packaging performance, support sustainability initiatives, and drive continuous improvement across our manufacturing operations.

This is a 24-month fixed-term opportunity supporting several exciting projects and business initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support Packaging NPD and Value Optimisation (VO) projects
• Plan, coordinate, and execute packaging trials from pilot through to commercial production
• Partner with Operations, Procurement, Commercial teams, and suppliers to deliver packaging solutions
• Support packaging material changes, sustainability initiatives, and pack optimisation projects
• Troubleshoot packaging materials, processes, and production line capability
• Analyse trial results and provide technical recommendations
• Track project outcomes, identify improvement opportunities, and contribute to cost-saving initiatives.
• Maintain a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

About You

You're a hands-on packaging professional who enjoys solving technical challenges and working collaboratively to deliver results in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• A tertiary qualification in Science, Engineering, Packaging Technology, or a related discipline
• Experience within FMCG or manufacturing, ideally in packaging development or production operations
• Strong knowledge of packaging materials and packaging processes
• Proven project management and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
• The ability to work independently and influence across cross-functional teams
• A proactive mindset with a passion for continuous improvement
