Job Description
Pallas Capital is one of Australia's leading real estate debt and equity investment managers. The business was established in 2016 as a direct response to the lack of CRE debt availability for borrowers requiring debt solutions up to $50 million+. They have successfully invested $5.8 billion since inception. Pallas Capital identified a significant gap in New Zealand's non-bank lending landscape and established a New Zealand office with an initial focus on lending capital in the sub $20 million space across New Zealand. Since then, the mandate has continued to grow and now extends to include larger loans and a broader suite of products Pallas offers in Australia, such as mezzanine debt and preferred equity. The Role As part of the Originations team, this role assesses and provides the Originator, Senior Credit Manager and Investment Committee with the information needed to approve a variety of real estate lending opportunities. Being commercially minded, this role requires a holistic approach to assessing opportunities within Pallas' risk appetite, ensuring the expectations of funders and investors are met. Key responsibilities Clearly and concisely articulating the credit risks of a loan request, mitigating those risks with reference to lending parameters, core credit principles and current market intelligence Analysing a diverse range of real estate lending opportunities, valuations and financial accounts Conducting market analysis and preparing Credit and Investment Committee papers Drafting Indicative Term Sheets and Offer Letters Working with external panel Solicitors on legal documentation, consultant due diligence reports, draw downs, risk management and treasury management Supporting continuous improvement of underwriting processes, templates, tools and procedures Joining the Originator at client and intermediary meetings and other market events Building and maintaining strong working relationships across the Credit, Loan Management, Origination and Distribution teams, as well as the broader Pallas Group The successful candidate will have a desire to work in the office as an integral member of the team, with a dynamic mindset, strong work ethic, and positive attitude. About You Minimum 2 years' experience in financial services within either a bank or non-bank environment, or commercial real estate Tertiary qualifications in finance, business or a property related discipline Advanced numeric and Excel skills, with experience in both feasibility and financial modelling Demonstrated knowledge of commercial real estate across multiple asset classes Strong written and verbal communication skills Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills A continuous improvement mindset, with the agility to thrive in a fast-paced, deal-focused environment.
