Job Description
Competitive salary + health and life insurance Accommodation provided Great location, just outside of Taupō Rangitaiki is a place where scale, variety, and teamwork all come together, on one of Aotearoa's largest stations. THE OPPORTUNITY If you enjoy spending most of your day on machinery and taking real pride in how a farm looks and runs, this role offers the chance to be part of a large-scale farming operation where your work will be seen and valued every day. Around seventy percent of this role is tractor and machinery operation, so you’ll be hands‑on with the work that keeps the farm moving. You’ll be working with modern, well‑maintained gear across a range of jobs, including cultivation and cropping work, feeding out, topping pastures, carting metal for tracks and paths, and helping keep machinery, vehicles, and equipment in good shape. You’ll also support fencing, general repairs, and other farm maintenance jobs as needed. There is good variety in the role, but it also offers a steady rhythm with largely consistent hours throughout the year. You’ll be trusted to manage your day, plan ahead, and work with the wider team to keep things running smoothly. It’s a great opportunity for someone who likes practical, hands‑on work, enjoys being outdoors, and gets satisfaction from seeing a job done well. You’ll be part of the Infrastructure and Machinery team at Rangitaiki Station, contributing to a progressive, well‑supported farming operation. This is a role where a capable machinery operator can make a real difference, keeping tracks, pastures, paddocks, vehicles, gear, and day‑to‑day farm operations in good shape. ABOUT YOU You are confident operating tractors and farm mechanics, enjoy practical work, and take pride in keeping things tidy, safe, and well maintained. You do not need to tick every box, but you’ll need to be comfortable spending a large part of your day operating machinery and working independently. Ideally you will bring: Confidence operating tractors and other farm machinery Experience with general machinery work such as cultivation, cropping, feeding out, topping, or carting Practical skills in fencing, basic repairs, vehicle maintenance, or general farm upkeep A good eye for what needs doing and the motivation to get stuck in without needing close supervision A tidy, safe approach to looking after machinery, vehicles, tools, and farm assets A willingness to be part of a team and help‑out with wider farm jobs when needed A current full New Zealand driver licence What will stand out is someone who is reliable, practical, and self‑motivated, the type of person who notices when something needs fixing, takes pride in doing things properly, and enjoys being part of a team that keeps a large station running well. THE FARM Rangitaiki Station is a place where scale, variety, and teamwork all come together. As Pāmu’s second‑largest farm, and New Zealand’s third largest, it covers 7,802 hectares and runs a mix of sheep, beef, and deer. It’s a big, complex operation, which means the work is varied, the learning is ongoing, and there is plenty of opportunity to make a visible impact. Set near Taupō, the station has flat to rolling country sitting between 650 and 900 metres above sea level. Winters can be long, but when spring arrives, the farm really comes to life with strong pasture growth and plenty happening across the operation. This role sits within the Infrastructure and Machinery team of five, a key part of keeping the station running well. You’ll be working alongside a wider team of 22 skilled and passionate people who work together across the farm systems. It’s a team environment where everyone has a part to play, and where good machinery, tidy infrastructure, and well‑maintained tracks, vehicles, and equipment make a real difference to how the station performs. BENEFITS We offer a competitive salary package, including health and life insurance, enhanced parental leave benefits, and up to 4% KiwiSaver matching. You’ll also receive an extra day of leave over Christmas, plus ongoing training and development. Accommodation is provided; two‑bedroom cottage is available with Power + Wifi covered. APPLY NOW Applications close midnight Sunday 23 August 2026.
