About the role We are looking for a positive and confident Mental Health Assistant to support our tight knit team in our Mental Health for Older People ward. The roles have rostered shift duties, Monday to Sunday. As a Mental Health Assistant, you will be responsible for: Supporting our nurses and other members of the health care team Patient cares, as required Ward maintenance, including keeping the ward tidy and bed spaces accessible Patient watch/supervision, with one-on-one care as required Locating, moving, and cleaning equipment About the Team/Service/Location Health New Zealand - Te Whatu Ora - Southern has the largest geographical coverage of all the New Zealand regions, providing services to 350,000 people in diverse communities. About you Our ideal applicant will: Hold a full driver's licence Be confident and physically able to provide support and assist consumers, including having a reasonable level of fitness to cope with the physical requirements of the job Be able to adapt to a changing environment Present themselves in a tidy and professional manner Have good computer literacy Acute mental health experience is essential Experience working with people in the health sector is an advantage.
