About the Company
Leading booking engine platform, created with one goal in mind: to help accommodation providers drive more direct bookings. With a fully responsive and customisable platform and a superior booking experience, we help hotels, motels, resorts and holiday parks compete against digitally sophisticated OTAs, increasing conversion rates and direct bookings.
About the Role
We're looking for a Mid-level to Senior Full-Stack Software Engineer to join our team and help build, improve, and scale our platform.
This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work across the full stack, contributing to new features, platform improvements, integrations, and technical decisions.
You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of projects from initial requirements through to implementation and deployment, while working closely with product, design and business stakeholders.
We're looking for someone who enjoys solving problems, writing quality software, and continuously improving how things are built.
You don't need to be a technical lead or people manager - we're primarily looking for a strong hands-on engineer who can work independently and make a meaningful contribution to the product.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain full-stack features across the platform
- Work across frontend and backend technologies, contributing wherever your skills are most valuable
- Develop responsive, accessible, and high-performing web applications
- Build and maintain APIs, integrations, and database-driven functionality
- Work with payment systems and transactional workflows
- Contribute to technical design and architecture discussions
- Identify opportunities to improve performance, reliability, security, and maintainability
- Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to engineering standards
- Work closely with product, design, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver practical solutions
- Take ownership of assigned projects and see them through from development to production
- Contribute to the ongoing development and improvement of the platform
Required Skills & Experience
- Commercial experience as a Full-Stack Software Engineer / Developer
- Strong experience with TypeScript and/or JavaScript
- Experience with React and modern frontend development
- Backend experience with Node.js
- Experience with Next.js or a similar modern web framework
- Solid SQL/database experience
- Experience building and consuming APIs
- Understanding of software engineering best practices, including testing, version control, and code reviews
- Experience working with payment systems, payment gateways, or other transactional platforms would be highly desirable
- Experience using AI development tools or integrating AI-powered functionality into production applications would be advantageous
- Ability to work independently, troubleshoot problems, and make sound technical decisions
- Strong communication skills and a collaborative, remote-first mindset
What We're Looking For
We're not looking for someone who wants to work through a list of tickets. You'll be curious, practical, and enjoy understanding why something needs to be built, not just how to build it.
You should be comfortable taking ownership of your work, asking questions when requirements aren't clear, and suggesting better approaches when you see an opportunity to improve something.
For the right person, there is plenty of opportunity to grow technically and take on greater responsibility over time.
What We Offer
- Work Remotely from New Zealand: Work from wherever you do your best work within New Zealand.
- Generous Time Off: 4 weeks (20 working days) of paid annual leave per year.
- Annual Team Gathering: Once a year, we meet in person to align on our vision, brainstorm ideas, and celebrate what we've shipped.
- Equipment & Setup: We'll provide a company laptop (Mac or PC), a monitor, a mouse, a keyboard, and a headset.
Company Culture
Our values are simple:
- Ownership over micromanagement
- Clear communication and pragmatic decision-making
- High-quality engineering without unnecessary complexity
- Work-life balance, even in a fast-moving product environment
You'll be joining a collaborative, down-to-earth team that cares about building things properly - and making them better over time.
