Trainee Cardiac Sonographer

About the Role This unique opportunity provides training to become a cardiac sonographer in both a regional and tertiary setting. Under direct supervision of qualified Cardiac Sonographers, as a Trainee Cardiac Sonographer you will learn to perform Transthoracic Echocardiograms (TTE, echo), and to assist with Transoesophageal echo (TOE) and stress echo. Working in both outpatient and inpatient settings, ED, ICU, theatre and other diagnostic areas and some satellite clinics in outlying communities. You will work Monday to Friday 8:00 to 16:30 performing scans, reviewing and reporting the images, participate in case discussions and training sessions while also working to complete the Postgraduate Diploma in Cardiac Ultrasound. The first year of the role will be based in Rotorua/Taupo Hospitals, transitioning to Waikato Hospitals for the second year. About the Team/Service/ Location The Clinical Physiology service at Te Whatu Ora Lakes provides a diagnostic service for patients requiring Cardiology, Respiratory and Neurological investigation. You would be joining a team of 12 physiologists, physiology technicians, trainee physiologists and physiology technicians, cardiac sonographers and trainee cardiac sonographers. Our department is well equipped and performs over 9,000 scans per annum, including adult 4D Echocardiography and paediatric echocardiography.
